Trying to get a straight answer about CPP-D Decision

It means that you have not been denied yet! Which is good news–it is in processing.

I was told a decision was made on Jan 18th. So should I assume I got it? If they haven’t denied me yet?

I don’t know if what they said Jan 18th is accurate, that is too long not to get a letter in my opinion.
That said, I would hope someone wouldn’t say you’re approved when you’re not.
I was told on the phone that I was approved but I got the letter shortly after.
Some people are not told over the phone the decision.
I would still go to a Service Canada office and say you were told conflicting information over the phone.

Based on my own “lived experience” I believe it indicates you have been approved.

I was approved before the CPP application status was added to Service Canada’s site some time in 2017, so there was no application status available on the web site at all.

However, I did check Service Canada every day to see if I could find any indication of whether I had been approved or denied. One day, the Canada Pension, Payment Information and Direct Deposit information sections appeared. There was no amount available in the next payment section, but all of my banking information appeared. A few days later the “amount” of my next payment appeared!

When these sections first appeared, I knew I had been approved as I understand how computer systems work. Service Canada was in the process of setting up my information, calculating my back payment amount and next payment amount and then finally inputting my next payment amount. I received my formal letter from Service Canada with all the details of the approval and payment a couple of weeks later. I did not receive a phone call.

I believe these sections do not appear AT ALL unless you are a recipient of Canada Pension (regular or disability).

Of course, you really need to see the letter!

Thank you so much Joanne. Sometimes it feels better to just talk about it! What a process

I too have been looking at my Service Canada account for any activity that may indicate approval (or not) of my CPPD application. Application status still says, In-Progress there is no change, Payment Information - unavailable. The note below the box says “If this is the first month, your payment amount may not be updated on the system yet.” My Direct Deposit has all of my banking information inputted. I did communicate with my Family Physician and he indicated that he did send Service Canada a letter in support of my CPPD application. The same goes for my oncologist. Service Canada did indicate to me that they were going to respond to my application as quickly as possible due to my illness. They were simply waiting on my various doctors to respond to their written requests. Not sure if the changes indicated in My Service Account mean that I am approved, but, I should know in short order.

Steve

I think those sections appear as soon as an application has been received and is being looked at.
I had empty sections for months.

Thanks Joanne. This makes sense as Service Canada did indicate to me that they would decide my application as soon as they have the doctors response from their letter.
