In my opinion better to give everything to Service Canada. I checked off on the CPPD application that they can obtain any medical documents from the insurer and the insurer also told me they sent over the documents to Service Canada the same day. I also wrote that my psychiatrist would be filling out the CPPD medical form. I think the CPPD medical getting filled out goes along way as they ask a few key questions such as: prognosis, can the person ever return back to work etc. I know my psychiatrist did an amazing job on it and that lead to my initial application approval for my mental health (invisible illness) issues. The waiting period is the most difficult. 101 days for me felt like an eternity but you will get a phone call from the medical adjudicator/Service Canada.
