Threat of cut-off during active MAID assessment

My GP abruptly fired me during an active MAID assessment (track 2), then misled Canada Life claiming I “withdrew consent” for him to send my records, omitting that he terminated me (yes, there are 2 college compaints about him now). Then Canada life threatened to cut me off in 1 month.

Canada Life says they need a GP for ongoing disability, I’m on waitlists and doing everything I can. They said they won’t keep me on payments even if my new specialist physician sends them a report. My psychologist already spoke/advocated for me with Canada Life (I’m too impaired) and they did grant a 3 month extension.

Can they actually cut me off if I can’t find a GP by then? Any wording I could use or things I could quote so they don’t cut me off???

No words, so sorry

Not sure what would help…other than highlighting to them the fact via email that ending someone’s LTD because they are unable to get a GP due to physician supply restraints seems like an act of bad faith. Canada Life is notorious for this type of poor behavior.

If they do cut you off seek out legal support. It sounds like you would have a strong case if that is the sole reason for their denial of LTD.

You can go to a walk in clinic and continue to receive care. You don’t need a GP technically, but you do need to have continuous regular care by medical doctors.
