I can’t believe my specialist

Hi all
So my insurance for Ltd just emailed me and said if your specialist doesn’t fill out this questionnaire by this date you are cut off. Can they do this?

They can. If they don’t receive up-to-date medical information to satisfy your LTD claim they can/will close your case. Unfortunately. The best you can do at this point is email them back and state that you will try and contact your Specialist (or Nurse) asap. Then contact your Specialist (or Nurse) and advise that the Insurance company is going to cut off your LTD and you’re now in a panic. That may help you. Specialists absolutely hate being hounded by Insurers however, it’s really a no-win situation if you need to remain on LTD. Insurance companies will do absolutely anything and everything they can to close your account - trust me!

Insurers often stop LTD payments if they believe you (or your doctors) have not provided required medical information or updates. Sometimes this is legitimate and sometimes it is not. You can appeal the decision and this is the type of appeal you can win, usually by getting the information they are looking for.

It’s just a simple work questionnaire they want my specialist to fill out. This dr is not willing to comply. I’m just stuck. I’ve already called the college of physicians once not long ago and she doesn’t seem to care

Mine didn’t like my hounding.
Still did what I wanted so I was lucky.

I don’t know if they are obligated to.

One of my doctors took seven months to fill out the forms. I asked him several times and my LTD provider also asked him many times. I was so stressed out with his attitude. This has to change.

Yes it has to change. It’s not fair that I would lose my benefits because of one dr.

I agree it needs to change but I understand why it is a problem for the other side.
My neurologist is super super busy but he is used to filling out the CPPD form (which is fairly easy for my condition).
I assume that it would take a lot of time for complex conditions.
I’m not sure he would do it then.
I kinda think he would but I don’t know.
There needs to be an inquiry to see what the vig roadblocks are.

LTD providers pay the doctors to fill out forms.

Another thing that has to change is doctors qualifications. My LTD provider wants me to see doctors who have FRCPC. My province hires doctors who do not have this. This is nonsense.

I have rheumatoid arthritis 12 years and fibro along with osteoarthritis anxiety and depression. I’ve failed some medications. Trying a new one soon. I’m in a terrible flare right now. So hopefully when I see my rheumatologist next month she will fill out the form. Cppd sent me a letter stating they are waiting for that appointment to decide on the reconsideration. They want the results the following day of the appointment. How am I going to get that to them the following day? I’m just so stressed out with all of this. I’m too a point of giving up.

I don’t think it is as much as they can make by seeing patients.
I don’t know though.

I thought those were just specialists.
I don’t know what they are.

Maybe the rheumatologist can fax them the info.
Don’t give up.
Once it is done, it is done.
Focus on the end result.

This is so hard to deal with. I feel as if I am defeated. I have no fight left in me.

Hi Chantal,
This exactly happened to me, cpp-d waited and gave me a dead line to submit specialist report , to continue to process my application, I couldn’t get on time due to computer error between my own GP and specialist. I phone service Canada about it and gave me another month to give that report. Thanks God I’m approved now.

Well now my specialist doesn’t feel comfortable filling out this questionnaire. So I guess insurance will cut me off. :frowning:
