LTD payments cut off unfairly -

#1

Hi-

I’ve been on LTD for about 4 months now for severe depression & trauma.

My psychiatrist said that our appointments with her will stop because my insurance company will find me a doctor & a therapy that suits better my case.

I’ve been trying to contact my case manager since then and nothing. I only spoke with a lady (replacing my case manager while on vacation) that they gonna call me once they find a doctor for me.

I left at least 10 voicemails & nothing.
Until my case manager sent me an email saying they don’t have enough medical proofs.
Its really don't fair. I've been trying everything. They stopped my payments. I had to leave my appartement, knowing i have no family in Ontario it was the most stressing thing ive ever experienced. I feel like this whole thing just aggravated my case.. im very lost.

I contacted my employer & they also cant believe what is going on.

Is there anyone out there hat have any advise or anything.

Thank you

How long since u have seen a doc? Visit your family doc and a psycologist and any other mental health practitioner u can find. I would consult a lawyer as well. Good luck to u. The more health care professionals who validate your health problems the better.

Did you get a letter in the mail explaining exactly why you are being denied? You should receive a physical letter rather than an email. If not, ask them to send you one. Go to your psychiatrist and ask her to write you a letter stating that you are not able to return to work, and that you require more extensive treatments by a different specialist (if she is not willing to treat you any longer) and have her outline the barriers to a successful RTW. Then get this to them asap and follow up every week until they have an answer for you. If they require more info, ask them to elaborate on exactly what they need because you have sent them what you feel they need. Have a lawyer contact them on your behalf because you are too mentally unstable to manage the stress they are causing, especially if you have had to leave your home because of financial stress. It’s so horrible that insurance companies can take advantage of people in such a way. Call the front desk and ask for a different caseworker if yours is not responding and tell them she never responds to your inquires. Best of luck

I know this feeling as of the 25 of March I been cut off. As they said they never received medical updates I been on Ltd just over a year. Then the insurance company informed me my place of employment basically terminated me while under Ltd. So my dress sent all information to them when it was requested. I finally have had enough I got a mortgage a truck payment and a family to support. I have contacted a lawyer and human rights lawyer. Done getting more stressed out then I already was. It’s what caused my illness (severe angina) and manic depression and anxiety

Definitely seek legal advise especially with the termination at work. Check our our firms page on Employment Rights and Disability Benefits. This information is hot off the press from this weekend.
