Hello,
I have been on LTD since mid 2022 for I have been just approved for CPPD, just call from adjudicator not processed yet, but approved. I have anxiety and other issues
I have a trip planned out of country for 16 days. I don’t know if I am allowed to go and afraid to ask because I don’t want to raise my hand and say I am going. I cant find anything in my LTD info that says I cannot leave country. It is a relaxation holiday,…I am travelling to a familiar place with people that can help me anxiety wise.
I am not sure what to do as now with CPPD I am afraid if they see my passport go out of country I would get dinged. Should I get a letter from my doctor saying it would be good for me and have it on file should they ask me? Thoughts…thank you.
I’m confused, you checked your LTD booklet but you’re worried about LTD?
This is my response about LTD:
The insurance company won’t see your passport.
I’d ask if you can travel out of the country.
You don’t want to be in someone’s picture they post on social media.
If you’re worried about CPPD:
Don’t be, they won’t care.
Enjoy your vacation.
CPPD is less a*al than insurance companies.
There are no restrictions on travel out of country for CPP disability. As long as they can reach you and you can get and respond to their letters. If you are only going for 16 days I don’t see this as a problem.
There may be some restrictions for travel related to LTD and you would have to check your LTD policy. The restriction is usually for periods much longer than 16 days, so again this may not be an issue at all. But, for LTD it is a good idea to have a letter from a doctor saying the travel is recommended and will not interfere with your treatment.
