Hello,
I have been on LTD since October 2024 and recently approved for extension and also approved for CPPD first payment was May of this year, all treatment has been completed last year and Im doing ok. Im on medication for anxiety and thats about it.
My Insurance company is Manulife which I think is under Canada Life now. I am planning a short vacation for my emotional and mental well being and my family would like to take me on a 10-12 day vacation out of Canada in late October of 2025
My policy is silent on travel and I dont want to just raise my hand and ask without asking on here for guidance in this matter.
My doctor has also provided me a letter and my oncologists state that its ok for me to go.
Thoughts-insights ? anything would help
Is it your policy or the master contract that is silent on the topic?
My policy documentation says nothing about travel, but the master contract states I can’t be out of Canada for more than 3 months at a time. I’ve seen master contracts state that you can’t leave the province for more than 1 week.
If it is the master contract that is silent, then I think you have a good plan.

Manulife has just a generic copy for ltd and my policy has nothing that states travel Ive asked for the master contract and it says nothing about travel
Even if a policy is silent on travel, it is best practice for a person to notify the insurer if they plan to do travel especially if you are within the first two years of being on benefits. I recommend having your doctors write a letter confirming the travel is within your abilities and will not be harmful to your health or treatment. It is very important that the travel not interfere with “regular” treatment. This is only 10-12 days so should not be an issue.
While on vacation I would recommend you not post photos on social media that could give a false impression of your abilities or activities.
CPP disability doesn’t care about short term travel like this.
