The wait time for a decision to overturn my CPP-D denial has been unreal. My reconsideration case is long overdue, much like many others in similar situations. I initially had my local Member of Parliament’s office communicate with Service Canada on my behalf, but I’ve been unimpressed with the associate handling the communication.
Recently, I decided to reach out to the newly elected MP in my area, as he seems to have a stronger advocacy approach, particularly concerning issues related to medical conditions like mine.
Has anyone else experienced a lack of support or effectiveness from their MP’s office? How did you handle it?
A friend suggested I contact the MLA directly, but they also shared their experience of speaking with an MP directly instead of an associate. That MP personally communicated with Service Canada, and things moved much faster afterward.
I am glad you had success. I generally don’t recommend people get politicians involved, but if you do just keep in mind that you still have to meet all deadlines even if you think their office is “handing things”. They are not your legal representative. We’ve seen people miss deadlines in the past because the person thought the MP’s office was representing them.

Thank you @David_Brannen for your response. In fact documents were missing at one point. I had called Service Canada a few times to check on active documents etc. it wasn’t until a month or so later I clued in on the dates that didn’t match when these specific documents were supposed to have been submitted. Thankfully it got sorted.
Originally I was unable to communicate with Service Canada on my own, so I had chose the MP route to communicate for me on my behalf.
