How many on LTD are in poverty? I'm only on govermnet programs I have no idea what others experience

My lived everyday experience is being on government assistance - Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) is from the province, 2020 I got approved for the DTC and opened my RDSP Then now I’m waiting to apply for the Canada Disability Benefit, because ODSP has a rule called “Obligation to Pursue Potential Sources of Income”. and I hope the government does not clawback the amount of the Canada Disability Benefit to balance out ODSP.

I’m only on govermnet programs I have no idea what others experience. Monthly I have a segement on a podcas to talk about whatever I want I’ve chosen to educate the people how disability in Canada is not unicorns and rainbows with lots of pot of gold.

The thing on their show they have this insurance sales man that irritates me, he has no idea the challenges of disability at all, he only sells the product of insurance and thinks it’s all smooth sailing after that.

My insurance options are very limited because of how much to being on disability started and I only get small snippets of information from people on LTD in various disability peer support and advocacy groups.

I would like more information fo the challenges of living with disability from LTD so I can enlighted the other co-hosts.

Thank you for your information and very sorry for your experience.

Disability creates many barriers and, difficult to state this, opportunities…

I do have a friend who has lived in extreme poverty for more than a decade. Their long term dr. does not believe this person should have the DTC. I am mortified by the dr.s position…

It precluded my friend from the RDSP for over two decades and my friend is no longer eligible.

Heinous of the dr. Dr. even said, it is only for people with physical movement “problems”, sickening… this dr. was a nemesis for others in the medical community, yet he outlived them all…
