I was approved for CPP-D in March. This week my insurance company emailed me asking for a CPP Payment Explanation Statement. In looking into this it sounds like they should have mailed me something? I haven’t received anything about this. I got an email at some point saying I was approved with the decision document, but not an explanation of payment. I also haven’t started receiving payments yet.
My insurance company has said “in order to avoid any further overpayment, we will begin deducting CPP benefits long-term disability benefits beginning with the next payment due May 5-June 4, 2025” which I find extremely concerning as I haven’t received any payment yet.
Someone from service Canada should have called you to notify you of what your CPP-d payment would be and when you’ll get it. I’d call Service Canada asap.
It depends.
Do you remember signing a form (I don’t remember if it was from the insurance company) that gives Service Canada permission to deal directly with the insurance company?
The money might go direct or you will pay the insurance company once you get paid.
It took almost a month for me to get the statement after being approved and getting the phone call. CPP-D sent paperwork to the insurance company that they had to return before the government could send me the details of my payment. (I think that LTD had a two week deadline to respond and then it took another week or so for them to mail out the explanation statement.) In the end I only received the statement a few days before I got my first payment.
If there’s a holdup, it might be the insurance company. Mine waited almost the full two weeks to respond.
