CPP Disability Claim 'In Progress'?

Well, at least don’t annoy them with constant calls.

To my mind, receiving LTD makes it more difficult to get CPP-D.

I sent LTD and disability tax credit approval letters to Service Canada as well. CPP-D medical adjudicator wrote in her denial that LTD approval doesn’t mean anything to them as there can be many reasons for ltd sick leave, like a work place injury and a conflict. She said that my problem is related to my current job and I should try to work at another place.

Her words worried me because it may give a wrong idea to my LTD insurer and give them the reason to deny “any occupation” as I am approaching 2 year mark.

That’s what is disturbing that cppd medical adjudicator’s personal opinion can be taken seriously by an ltd insurer. They are not even doctors to decide whether you can work or not.

Well, hopefully they will give you a break as your condition is more serious than mine.

Does your insurer have a copy of the denial letter?

Have you been approved for the DTC yet?

I am of 2 minds, I wish it wasn’t serious but I also wish they would just approve it and I wouldn’t have stress,

Do you think your condition is related to your current job?
I would be really careful of taking her opinion as fact.
I think a lawyer is a very good option for you.

They do because I scanned and emailed a full copy to my insurer. I don’t think I could just send the first page and hide pages with the reasons for denial. It could’ve looked bad on me.

Yes, I have. I sent a copy of approval letter to Service Canada as well but they totally ignored it. To be approved for DTC you have to have a condition that pretty much limits you in activities of everyday life.

What puzzles me is how a medical condition can be related to a specific job? It’s a nonsense to even write so when I suplied them with years of medical reports from different types of specialists. It is like saying that if you have concentration problems at this job then you won’t have these problems as soon as you find a new job. They will miraculously disappear.

I will contact resolute on a tribunal stage.

I think you shouldn’t be worried too early.

That reinforces my opinion that they denied you for the sole reason to discourage you.
I think they move faster on appeals.

Thanks but easier said than done.
It would be somewhat reassuring to have a separate income besides LTD.

Good luck with your appeal.

I would work something about that into your appeal.

I got the letter from Service Canada today that my application has been received (although the online account shows it was received long before the letter sent, but whatever.) This is what it says:

"Acknowledgement of Receipt of Your Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Disability Pension Application

Service Canada has received your application for a Disability Pension."

Are CPP disability benefits called a Disability Pension, though? The wording has me a bit concerned. I am far from retirement.

Yes, it is a pension.

Hi, please contact our office directly to request a free consult. We can book CPP consults within a day or two, but LTD consultations may take longer depending on our workload and availability.

Yes you can get consults for both CPP and LTD. There is no hard limit on the amount of consultations, unless we can’t help or is outside our scope of expertise.

How long after a decision was made did you restive a letter in the mail.

How long after a decision was made did you receive a letter in the mail. They made an decision on March 12th for me but no letter yet

I think it was a bit over a week.
It probably depends a lot on how far away you are from where they made the decision.
I would phone next Monday if you get nothing this week.
Ask them specifically when the decision was mailed.

Was yours approved or was there anything filled in on their site

What was your decision or was there anything filled in on their site

Mine took 7 working days to get a letter.
I was accepted.
I think mine had a payment amount on the website before I got the letter but I’m not sure.
I don’t think the application status changed.
I really don’t remember the order.

I have been approved for CPP d and been approved by Ltd to continue until I reach 65.

Question I sent a travel plan to my case mgr and then a copy of cancelled trip as I wanted to see my new grandson
Am feeling nauseated and too unwell to go.

Can the insurance company cancel my payments orcthink I can work st any other job because of this? ltks

Because of your travel plan?
It’s unlikely they would unless you travel a lot.
They can cut off benefits for any reason but I doubt they would cut you off for this.
Unless your caseworker is a real pr*ck and is having a really bad day.
Having CPP-D is a huge plus.
Congrats on that.
Try not to worry.

Thanks for the words of comfort. Hugs

We’re did it show an amount

I have been told by CPPD that a decision has been made, but they got 6 weeks to send letter… does that sound like a denial? Why can’t they just tell you on the phone or send letter asap…I have been through 9 months of agony with these people…oh my! Another 6 weeks with very little money…probably will lose my car .and only got 2 years left to pay on it…any suggestions?

It doesn’t sound good or bad.

Some people would yell at them.

I’m sorry it is hard.
I sympathize but nothing to say except that I hope it works out.
