Can anyone share experience if you have been approved for DTC and the new disability benefit can it be helpful if you include this in your cpp d application if you are in mid 30’s. Also anyone here who has been in late 30’s or early 40’s has been approved for Cpp D ? Just curious what are your chances of approval if you are younger but have disability preventing to work anything.
It’s hard to compare because CPP-D is focused on someone not being able to work because their disability is “severe and prolonged”, while with DTC you can be working to get it, but have to prove that the condition affects you 90% of the time.
That was my experience. I was easily approved for CPP-D however, my doctor won’t fill out the DTC forms for me because I’m no where near as disabled as the categories listed, and I agree with my doctor.
Hey everyone, just looking to gather some info and insights. It’s been just over 3 months since I applied for CPP D benefits and after calling twice in the last little while all I get to hear is it’s under process and if I don’t hear sometime a date mention in June than I should call. Is it means no news or update is good news. Also under my service canada account it’s not opening my benefit estimates tab, but when click under status or tax deductions it shows like generic message like no information is found or error.
Can anyone share something that it relates to your experience as it’s quite unsettling and I am very anxious now each day passing.
My understanding is that they don’t really look at any of it until your application comes up in the stack of applications, so you should expect to see nothing changing in your file. Usually people’s first zign of approval is the scheduled payments popping up in your account and then the confirmation letter comes in a couple of weeks.
No news is simply no news. While most of us can appreciate the stresses associated with waiting the reality is all of our medical conditions are unique and service Canada will get to your file whenever they decide to.
My CPP-D application was approved last year and it took 4 months. I think the person that interviewed me on the phone said that they aim to make a decision in 4 months because I remember thinking mine was “on time”.
Thanks everyone for your continuous support and insights. It is definitely a lot to prove when you one of those chronic pain and mental illness that nobody can see but you know you are battling a fight every single day no medical science is available till date to prove how much you are struggling and how much your bearing each day of your life and that is 24/7. I even had multiple emergency visits at hospital and all they ask me where is your pain and when I explain it’s everywhere with some parts more severe than others and sometimes others body parts are more severe and sometimes your whole body is running you down where you need complete bed rest where your mental meltdown is very obvious and they ask you come here for physical or mental issues but with combined issues and simply by asking that type of question your totally insulting a person who is suffering and asking them to do something crazy enough things before you can say oh yes he or she is suffering. Their is barely good enough doctors who knows the impact of physical pain and its impact on your mental helath and all I say just exchange your soulwith my body for a day and explain what you feel and you will get know how much intense and bad it is for your to say yes you are disabled. I am just sick and tired of our Canadian health system it’s slow, pushing you down and live a life like a beggar or living on streets and they blame it’s your fault you raise your voice and they say you are creating a scene and it’s not fair for other to stay in line. How you guys manage this and what it took for each one of you to struggling and able to justify yes we are entitled to CPP disability benefits.
