In case I need to litigate to get LTD from my insurer, I’m wondering if I’m eligible to take EI for disability after STD?
Or does the XX weeks of STD kill my ability to get EI? Thanks

I think there is something called EI-Sickness you can get.
You’ll have to pay it back once you get LTD I think.
If you qualify, apply for CPP-D too.
As far as I know, you can get EI sickness AFTER the STD ends, as long as you still have enough hours to qualify. EI looks back 52 weeks to see if you have 600 insurable hours. So when your STD ends, they will look back 52 weeks to see if the person had 600 insurable hours and if so, then a person could qualify. I recommend people always reach out directly to Service Canada for these questions because the answer may differ based on internal policy changes at Service Canada.
