Return-to-Work Plan vs New Job Offer, What’s the Smarter Move?

I’m currently on a return-to-work plan at my job, but I’ve been offered a position with a different employer. I’m trying to decide whether taking the new job is a good idea.

The reason I’m torn is that my current employer and the insurance company are making the process really difficult, even though the benefits plan is very good. I’m worried that if I re-injure myself or aggravate my previous injury, it might not be covered under a new employer’s benefits.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is it generally safer to stay where I am, or does switching jobs make sense despite the risk? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

I think ALOT more information is going to need to be provided before anyone can offer you some sound advice.

Just be aware of a “cool down” period. For most health benefit plans I’ve seen, LTD has a ‘cool down’ period of 24 months so if you start at a new job you can’t claim LTD until after that period

I forget the official term used in the LTD contract. I think it’s called Elimination Period or something
