Hello, CPP Disability has been approved. I did not sign the irrevocable consent or reimbursement forms so CPP will be paying the retroactive amount directly to me. Can anyone shed any light on how Manulife will go about collecting the reimbursement and adjusting their monthly payments? Thanks
Not sure I understand the question, generally you would just write them a cheque for the amount they are owed for back payments and your future payments would be reduced by the amount of the monthly CPP.
My insurer expected payment within 30 days of approval of CPPD if the direct payment wasn’t made from CPPD.
Let them know that you’ve been approved. They will calculate the amount you owe them. You’ll pay them that amount. Then they will reduce your monthly payments by the CPP-D amount. You’ll continue to receive the reduced amount from LTD plus your regular CPP-D amount. Total will be the max amount you are allowed by your LTD policy.
Service Canada will mail you a Payment Explanation Statement setting of the retroactive benefit. You need to give a copy of this to your LTD insurer. They will then tell you the amount owing to them and give you a deadline to pay them.
