LTD and Letter of Employment

Hello!

I’ve been on LTD and now top up to my CPPD for almost 10 years. I am part of a union and still have all my benefits, etc. I’m currently in the process of buying a new house and the mortgage broker wants a letter of employment. Do they have to provide that? Or am I considered unemployed because of my LTD? Thanks!

LTD is separate from employment.
You might still be employed, you might not.
If you haven’t received a letter from the employer terminating your employment for “frustration of contract” then you might still employed.
If you’re not employed a “proof of income” might suffice for the mortgage broker.
You can download a CPP-D one from the Service Canada website and you might get mailed one from the insurance company for LTD each year (I do but contact them if you don’t).

I needed a letter from my LTD claims manager for proof of income.
