My employee benefit booklet has a section about LTD just like it does for dental, health care spending, etc…

Mortgage renewal while on LTD

Anyone renewed a mortgage yet while on LTD? Do they consider a gross-up of tax free payments to the equivalent taxable income? How does the new stress test deal with LTD payments?

LTD overpayment debt

I spoke to GWL representative this morning and he proposed 50,000 now and 2000 per mo till paid off. He sent it to HBT for approval. It is the maximum I can do, judging by how much my mortgage is and the work needed to make the house liveable. If HBT does not agree with this proposal, I will contact the lawyer. Buying a home for the first time

I never tried to get life insurance but it would depend on how you are disabled. It’s generally a better deal to get normal life insurance than mortgage insurance since the amount you receive doesn’t decline as you pay down your mortgage.

Exactly like Raptors fan says, it will be listed as a section of your group benefits booklet. There is Short-term disability, long-term disability and accidental death and dismemberment. Make sure to look for the differences in all three of these.
