Leaving Canada for good?

Hello,
I’ve been on LTD since 2020 and also on CPPD.
I’m technically still employed as I my employment has not been terminated.
I’m contemplating leaving Canada for good and moving overseas, family members will take care of me.
If I decide to go ahead what order would I do things? My thoughts
Send in resignation letter.
Notify CPPD of my decision to leave the country
Notify LTD insurer that I’m leaving

I am not concerned about any benefits being cut off as I will be supported by my family and will have access to any medical needs. I’m still unwell.

Will I get in trouble with CPPD and LTD insurance company in that they were paying me all this time when I could’ve just left the country and relied on family.

Thanks in advance

Nope, you are all good.

Also check your LTD policy. You might be able to move oversees and still have LTD payments as long as you are getting reasonable treatment.

I’m not sure what CPPD does if you move away.

Edit: Forgot to say, don’t bother resigning. I’d just tell tell your employer that you are leaving the country while you are sick and are not sure if/when you may be returning.

Thank you for the information

You may consider checking whether the country you are moving to has a reciprocity agreement with Canadian government, if so you may be eligible to maintain your CPPD benefits.
