Hi, I have been waiting over 6 months for a decision for my appeal from CPP disability. I was told to call back after Aug 1st as it was still in the time frame. I called on Aug 12th and she said she would escalate my file and that it takes 3 weeks for a response so I should call back in 1 month for an update. Has anyone else had experience with CPP escalation process?
This is a common experience. You should keep following up. If you get into the 7 month range, you can contact the ombudsman for Service Canada to investigate the matter. We have an article on our website explaining how to file a complaint against Service Canada.

Update today when I called CPP. The lady said the response came back and that my file has not been looked at due to a large number of applications. No estimated date can be provided and that I will receive a letter when a decision has been made or contacted if more information is needed. So basically i’ve been given the runaround. I requested reconsideration in January and then I received a letter on Jan 30th that they would hold my file until March 3rd so I could provide any additional medical information. I did not provide a date when I would provide this information during my reconsideration request. This basically added another 2 months to my wait time. I later realized you can send information to them whenever you like as long as your file has not been looked at by a medical adjudicator. So not sure I made the best decision during reconsideration request when I chose I would provide additional information at a later date? I will wait one more month and then I will contact Service Canada Ombudsman if CPP can not provide me with useful information about my application.
