I didn’t wait for the ATIP response to file.
The SST level process is much slower than the application and reconsideration processes. After filing you’ll be assigned a Navigator to help you with filing deadlines, next steps and so on. You’ll be given a period of time to make your submissions (I think 8 mos is standard) then SC will have response time (4 mos for me) and then you’ll get to respond to their response (1 month).
The sooner you get it rolling the better IMHO.
@Cate thanks for your message. Did you submit any medical files or documents when you submitted your application? Would you suggest submitting some sort a medical document? Then move forward with rest when I get assigned the navigator?
Warm regards
My file was really complicated. I filed a request with my provincial healthcare for all the files they had for billing and got printouts from pharmacies of all meds I filled. My file in my cabinet is about 6 inches thick. I filed what I had when I got it.
I’d say attach everything you want to submit and currently have, but if you get things in dribs and drabs, you can submit those by email as you get them. Also, if you haven’t done it yet, write a personal submission. Include all your diagnoses, enumerate symptoms, how it affects you in work and life, and any other info (attempts to continue work, medications tried, accomodations or reduced schedules etc) you think it should contain. Be thorough. Family or work contacts could do the same if they can attest to your disability affecting your ability to function in either environment.
Hope it goes well!
Thank you for your advice. Very helpful. Last night I printed about 1 inch of just emails that involve 2 years regarding attempts of self employment project and highlighting those challenges to present. Just a tid bit of what I’m submitting.
Great advice! May I add, above all, be truthful!
Absolutely I agree with you @Amethyst. I’m gathering all information I never thought about before.
My letter will be long but that’s the nature of my condition. Explaining things in general is a downfall because I don’t know how to get to the point without telling the whole story to ensure my vision is interpreted the way I want it be perceived. Usually people stop listening either they don’t understand me or the story is to long getting to the point, so I’m worried who ever is reading my letter will do the same.
I have nothing to hide. This letter gives me opportunity to really think about “the real world”.
I wonder does this file submission need to be in like an exhibit style? Like a table of contents and reference pages. Trying to perfect this is going to be lengthy.
Thank you so much for all the advice.
Warm regard’s
My letter was 7 pages long. Take al the space you need.
I wrote mine as a narrative, but I’ve seen others mentioning different formats. I’d say do what feels natural for you so that you don’t forget what may be a critical point.
