Thanks for taking the time to join our community. This forum is meant to serve as a resource for anyone applying for short or long-term disability payments in Canada . You may post any legal questions you have here and our lawyers will get to them as they have time. Other members may answer your questions as well. Our lawyers moderate this forum, but we don’t necessarily always agree with advice given by other members. Please try to keep in mind the following guidelines.

  2. The information you post in this forum is public. Please assume that your insurance company can view and read what you are posting. It is better if you reveal as little identifying information as possible if you want to protect your identity. Also, if your disability claim is the subject of a lawsuit, you will be required to disclose any communications you have made on social media or online forums such as this. You may be required to identify and disclose all comments and posts you have made on this forum. Please take care in what you post and assume your insurance company will have access to everything you say.

  3. All legal questions should be posted in Disability Insurance Claim Answers or CPP Disability Claim Answers.

  4. All non-legal discussions should be posted in General Discussion.

  5. All comments on how we’re doing and how we can improve should be posted in Site Feedback.

  6. Please search for the topic you are interested in first using the magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen. If you don’t find anything similar to the question you have, you may post a new topic if you’d like.

  7. Feel free to respond to topics you have an understanding or question on. We invite users to share their personal experiences with other members.

  8. People are encourage to post links to information that would be useful to users, but it cannot be done for the purpose of trying to sell third party products or services. Also, any links created simply for SEO advantage for a third party website are forbidden. The moderators will review all links and and have full authority to delete any links or posts that are deemed not be be in the interests of users.

  9. With that said, please treat all forum members with the dignity and respect that you would treat yourself, even if they have said something you yourself do not agree with. Any comments that only serve to criticize another forum member’s character will be deleted without warning. If you can’t say anything nice or constructive, don’t say anything.

  10. While we encourage members to share their experiences, please do not call out specific people or companies in a way that may amount to defamation. We review any posts that mention specific people or organizations in a negative way and may delete posts that could be defamation given the public nature of this forum.
