Apologies if I may be incoherent, I’m typing this while in immense discomfort but I’ve been stressed to no end by the constant cutting off of my payments.
I’m currently on long term disability from a whole slew of problems (physical and mental). I’ve had my case manager changed a few times. Last September my payment suddenly stopped. It ended up being for 17 days but at the time it seemed it was never coming. The sudden cutoff put my finances all out of whack and the bank my mortgage is with threatened to reclaim the home due to the sudden missed payment.
Sometime last year my doctor referred a psych assessment for me at the request of FunWife and after some ordeal with my file getting lost or something, I got another referral, went through intake and was put on a waitlist.
Upon asking my insurance provider rhyming with “FunWife”, they didn’t give a reason except that my case manager changed and the previous one dropped the ball. No apology, nothing. This also seemed odd since I doubt every monthly payment is held back by a case manager pressing a button vs accounting handling them automatically.
Anyway, since then my case manager changed again twice. In January my treating doctor suddenly told me she was retiring from her practice. I’ve been on waitlist for a family doctor for years to no avail. I immediately let FunWife know and all they suggested was that I get an appointment with another doctor in the clinic. I did, but as he’s not MY doctor, he validated that my issues were still in need of the prescribed medication from my previous doctor and helped renew my prescriptions.
Not too much else happened since from FunWife, but the newest case manager assigned suddenly started calling my phone incessantly. I previously communicated to them to please email me as phone calls are incredibly difficult for me. He threatened to terminate my benefits and said I must talk to him on the phone to give my update.
After a while of this abuse, my partner reached out on my behalf and worked with me to provide my update via email. Around this time I was finally contacted by the psych office and was given an appointment for mid July.
Around Feb/March, my partner asked for my full updated file as well as my master policy. The case manager said my partner would need my signed authorization, then asked for the reason for the request, then asked for changes on the authorization. By mid May all his objections were dealt with and he thanked us for the forms. In that same email he again asked for an update.
As I’ve been really sick, my partner had been trying to work with me to complete the update. But due to my mood swings and tiredness and poor memory, we haven’t yet been able to complete it. Amidst the case manager’s constant follow-ups for the update, my partner explained the situation and that she was working with me to complete it. She then followed up on the status of the requested file and master policy. The case manager said it would take up to 30 days and continued to ask for the update.
around mid June, my partner noticed my bank account suddenly received an early payment from SunWife which was about half the usual monthly amount. She reached out to notify the case manager of this mistake and he said that I hit 2 year mark on my LTD and so payments stopped as the definition changed.
She informed him that my situation was no better and if anything was worsened by the unannounced cut in payment and that I’ve been following all prescribed treatment. He said they contacted the previous treating doctor (unbeknownst to us, but we had already told them she retired), and sent 4 faxes to my mental health counselor who I’ve been working with and didn’t get anything back.
My partner reminded him of my situation and told him that they should be contacting the clinic instead of the retired doctor for my files and gave them the info (that they already had). She then asked for the file and master policy again so that she could get a better understanding of their dealings with me and help fill gaps in my memory.
The case manager repeated that he already sent the request to the corresponding department, then he told my partner to please provide the answers to his questions BEFORE seeing the files. Which is odd because we had asked him for the files well before his questions, and it’s already been maybe 35 days or so when he said it would take up to 30 days.
In the last 3 days I’ve suddenly received 2 emails from what rhymes with “The Maim Jab” where the emails say first attempt and second attempt and to fill a questionnaire. No one has mentioned anything about these emails sent out not by FunWife but some 3rd party. I was also not reminded or warned at all about payments ceasing for probably the past year. My complete and updated insurance file and master policy as well as monthly payments have all not shown up.
Not sure what is going on or the next course of action, any help would be greatly appreciated. This whole experience with FunWife has been anything but fun and wifely, and has caused more grief, trauma, stress, financial loss, and rifts in my relationships than I could ever express.
