RTW and Insurer causing problems

Thanks for this information. I also just sent insurance a complaint about not providing me with the full master policy. They have acknowledged receipt of complaint and said it’s been sent to the supervisor.

Hello Annie.

What ended up happening with this? Did you return to work?

There’s ALOT that has happened since. I did end up returning to work and I was denied opportunity to see occupational therapist etc prior to my return as my insurance company indicated I could return to work with no accommodations. My choice was to appeal their decision or return to work. As I did not want to be without income while I awaited appeal, I did return to work. It’s been difficult. But I knew I was not well and saw a psychologist who has now diagnosed me with PTSD (work related). So I have now applied for WSIB. Although not ideal I will complete my days to reset my short term sick pay, which is very soon and the psychologist will provide me the note and then start my therapy.

Not sure which province you are in, but involve the office of the superintendent of insurance and ask for their assistance. It should be in your provinces insurance act that you are entitled to a copy of the policy

I’m in Ontario. I filed a complaint with Manulife and received another ‘partial’ piece of the policy. I know it can’t be the entire policy as there’s definitely some categories missing from it. I’m not sure why they feel they have to protect it so much when it is our right to see it. I have basically given up on that now, as I’m awaiting WSIB approval at this time and am sure I will have new issues to address. Such a horrible process when people are already sick!
