On Disability-Don't update your social media with "I'M RETIRED"

Insurance companies often attempt to take statements out of context in order to deny or terminate benefits by alleging that a legitimately disabled claimant is: malingering, making a lifestyle choice, embracing the sick role or not happy with their job.

If on disability then posting anywhere or on any forms that you are “retired” is just inviting trouble

The problem with social media is that it is rarely presents a true picture of a person’s life. It is now well recognized by psychologists and people who study social media that almost everyone puts on a brave face for social media – empathizes the positive, etc. There is nothing wrong with this, but it is often taken out of context by insurance companies as indicated by Allyoops.
