Home Exemption?

Me and my now ex-wife own a home. We are not selling it because she and my disabled son need a roof over their heads. I have moved out and would like to apply for disability benefits in Alberta, or “AISH” (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped). Will the house still be considered an exempt asset? It is no longer my primary residence.

Selling the home to survive financially with my mental illness would put my wife and child in a vulnerable position, so I am hoping it does not have to come to that. Does the home have to be your primary residence in order to be exempt? My half is worth about 125,000.

Thanks

Looks like it is asset tested and your half of the house would count.
I’d contact them and ask.
Actually I don’t trust the call jockey’s answer so ask Resolute:
