Hardening program

Hello,

Last January is when I reached the LTD 2 year anniversary. My file has been reviewed by the insurance’s expert, without asking for an update from my physician, who say that I am capable of working a sedentary job.

There are no documents in my file that indicate I am able to work and my physician would not support this and knows my multiple restrictions both physical and mental and has already notified the insurance in July. I’ve also had a new diagnosis that may complicate one of my original diagnosis and have sent that report to them (I have a few because my body failed me on an extraordinary basis)

I have been approved for DTC in Jan 2025 until 2030 but didn’t know I needed to tell the insurance. I will tell them now after reading some of the posts. I can’t see my doctor until May 15th but they want me to start a hardening program before that. Am I allowed to decline until I’ve spoken with my doctor because I’m worried it may cause more harm than good at the moment?

Who is the work hardening program with? Usually the insurance companies hire a third company to do them.

It’s with CBI Health which I think is a third party. Some days I can’t even get out of bed or accomplish anything productive but it’s not because I can’t, it’s because I’m not able. It sounds stupid but it is what it is.

I would “stall them” untill you see your doctor on May 15th.

Ask them for them for a copy of the work hardening program or any other details they have on what they are planning so that your doctor can approve the plan. I would tell them starting a work hardening program without input from your doctor is the opposite of reasonable medical treatment.

Your LTD contract states you must be receiving reasonable treatment for your disabilty, and your doctor reviewing a work hardening program and approving it as compatible with your treatment plan is the only medically reasonable course of action.

At least get on record with this request (do it via email and CC yourself). That way if they force a work hardening program and your doctor says n to it and things end up in litigation the record will show they were being unreasonable.

Ask your case manager for the medical report that they are relying on so you can review with your doctor. Put in about somedays unable to get out of bed, issues wih walking to bathroom..never use absolute statements-most days some days. Contact work hardening ask for plan o review wih doctor-ask for all intake and consent forms. be polite–do all by email.

Make an appointment with Doctor. You must always be cooperative and polite.
