I’m 63 and have been on LTD for 2.5 years. Sun Life just sent me a Plan Members update to fill in. One of the questions asks if I have enquired about retirement pension available to me at this time. I am receiving free accrual from HOOP until I’m 65, so definately don’t want to retire now. Can they force me to start collecting my pension now.

Shouldn’t be able to but double check your plan. Retirement ends many disability insurance payments so I presume that they are checking if you retired or are planning to. Just say no and ignore it.
I just answer no because I know what is available so I’ve never enquired.
There is nothing I want before 65 anyway and I think being a DCPP it is not a company things anyways.
They can’t force early retirement.
