So I haven’t quiet been on ltd for a year and am in a rehabilitation program which is currently on hold until I see my doctor.. they had threatened to cut off my benefits if I didn’t return to work but I was able to get in to see my doctor and she stated I could not return to work at this time… and Canada life told me my file was being sent to a medial coordinator as I was having new symptoms… I’ve had to see an ot for 8 weeks which I dreaded each time as she was just making my symptoms worst I voiced my concerns to the case manager and rehab I’ve done all 8 sessions they requested now I’m being asked by the occupational al therapist to track my activities for the next two weeks to justify and extension in treatment.. no one from Canada life has contacted me about this and I do t see how it is medically necessary. Also one minute my case manager says my file is on hold due to being sent to the medical coordinator the next it’s not .. has anyone every requested a new case manager
If it were me, I would just track my activities for 2 weeks, as if you refuse, it seems like you’re hiding something. I feel like you have to pick your battles with the insurer, and if you’re being told to do something by your OT, you should do it unless you really can’t. You want to cooperate with your OT and have them on your side. You don’t want them reporting back to your insurer that you didn’t cooperate. I’ve actually tracked my activities for a month, as I have fatigue issues and I was tracking my energy levels for myself and my doctor. It was not something requested by my insurer. You can log your activities rather vaguely, such as “wash-up”, “cook”, “housework”, “meal”, “stretches”, “go for walk”, “check emails”, “rest”, “nap”, “sleep” etc. My energy levels are inconsistent, so there are days where I do very little other than “rest”, “nap” or “sleep”. If the rehab program is triggering new symptoms, your activity log would actually help in showing how the program is resulting in a reduction of daily activities and a need for more “rest”.
That’s exactly what I’m doing I am cooperating even though I think it’s non sense, as they already know I have fatigue most days.. my ot is just in it for the money I think as I feel she does nothing for me but wants to request more sessions she also told me I either needed to go back to work or quit and that my doctor was just saying I had depression.. I’ve done nothing but cooperate but when they start bullying me and not listening to my symptoms that’s when I get upset
Totally agree with Sunrise’s comment. Cooperate and use the activity log to show how disabled you are.
Also document the bullying (things the OT factuallysaid, and how it made you feel) in the activity log whenever you make a log entry that you had an OT session/conversation.
It’s the ot that has asked me to keep track of my activities
Yup, that’s exactly why it’s important to document the things the OT says that seem outrageous.
I’d also cooy your claims handler on the activity log.
