Moving abroad while on CPP-D

I have been on CPP Disability for 6 years for a chronic pain condition. My doctors have deemed my condition permanent and can neither find a cause nor cure for it. I am planning to move to another country with a lower cost of living because I cannot survive on the disability amount I receive. Can I still get my CPP-D payments if I move permanently out of Canada?

Will you be receiving any treatment while abroad? Not sure if you can just collect money and not get treatment or try to seek employment. Unless your doctors say that there is no further treatments for you as your condition is not likely to improve.

Did you try to call Service Canada? Ask them if you can leave the country and for how long.

Here’s the number: 1-800-277-9914

Call about permanently leaving (and post the answer here :-)).
