Medical Adjudicator wants more medical information

I called Service Canada to get an update on my CPPD decision to be overturned.

Agent tells me a letter was sent yesterday morning via Canada Post to my Dr., she has 45 days to respond. There is a huge chance that my Dr. will not get that letter in that timeframe with the strike.

After several calls here and there I finally got a solution to my problem. I went straight to the local Service Canada office and had the letter printed. Will be dropping it off on Monday.

Question: Why does the medical adjudicator want medical reports if I’ve submitted it all?

I have submitted every medical document going back to 2018 the adjudicator wants more information from my Dr. to assess whether I qualify for benefit.

Although my Dr. had included her medical report dated March 23 2023, which was when the initial application was made, the adjudicator wants medical information from March 1 2023 - present which wasn’t included in this report.

Letter says in short - In order to qualify they need additional information.

I’m confused because I’ve submitted ever single document including medical specialist reports that have been updated most recent Oct 03 2024.

I’m guessing it’s because it has been so long since you’re application was submitted that they they need to confirm that your disabilty is still severe (you can’t work) and prolonged (your prognosis is poor). Alot could have changed since March 2023, and they need medical confirmation on what, if any changes, have occured.

My CPP medical Adjudicator said the 45 days will start once the postal strike it over and regular mail starts flowing again, so hopefully that is correct and applies to you as well.

Thank you! My thoughts are the same as yours, however new submissions started May 2024 with the help from a MP. The medical documents were submitted as I got them so not in a package like most do in reconsiderations. That said every document was confirmed received. I finally got into see a specialist in Oct 2024 which was a 2 year wait. I submitted the medical report in October and was confirmed that it had been received. The medical report letter for CPPD clearly said the specialist would support the disability in the future but the adjudicator never sent him the letter, the letter is addressed to my family Dr… I was approved not long after for PWD, now receiving provincial disability as of November which was very quick. I already had a follow up with the specialist and my next appointment is in February 2025.

I called Service Canada and spoke with an agent about if I should be letting them know that I was waiting for a decision for provincial disability. 15 days later I got a call back from Service Canada about the inquiry which Inthought was strange because I already discussed this prior. This time though I was in receipt of provincial disability so he updated the notes on my file.

So now after learning about the letter being sent during the strike I went straight to Service Canada and had the letters printed. Thankfully I can drop off the one letter addressed to my Dr. tomorrow being Monday.

I’m confused because they should have all the documents they need as it is our responsibility to submit all medical information new and old.

I’m wondering now if the adjudicator needs confirmation by my family Dr. as she hasn’t submitted anything in the reconsideration stage. I asked her if I needed any medical reports from her to send and she said Service Canada would reach out to her if they needed anything from her. Well that is the case now.
