Insurance Company-Error in benefits left me with having to file a Consumer Proposal

My benefits were $200 less than they should have been for 3 years and I had no cost of living benefit.

At the 3 year mark I decided to file a consumer proposal not looking into the consequences as deeply as I should have.. I was sick, frustrated and depressed about it all. I loved my job. I loved the people I worked with. I had been there over 3 decades.

In 2025 I received a cost of living increase so I questioned it which lead the caseworker to look into it. That lead to a review of my benefit amount and them discovering I had been underpaid.

I received retroactive pay plus cost of living back pay. But it was too late. The proposal was filed more than a year before.

I would not have had to file a consumer proposal if I had that $200 extra a month from the beginning.

I feel like this has caused me a significant hardship. Perfect credit rating gone, cannot get a loan for a vehicle. I am 60 years old and extremely disheartened.

Is there anything I can do? Thank you.
