LTD asking for all medical file sent to 3rd party

Can Anyone please comment if they had the same experience?
LTD wants all my medical file from 2 years ago sent to 3rd party insurance. Is this safe and what could It mean?
I am apprehensive to send confidential info to 3rd party and why from 2 years ago?

Ask your Insurance Company to provide, IN WRITING, the reasons why they want all your medical files sent to a 3rd party insurance. DO NOT CALL them and ask… EMAIL them and ask for their reasons IN WRITING. Get a paper trail going.

I’m not sure if this is “safe” and what it could mean. That’s why you should get everything IN WRITING. Also, if they call to discuss it, tell them that you don’t feel comfortable discussing over the phone and insist you get an explanation IN WRITING.
