Sort of a blanket post but I just wanted to say that I’ve had extremely great success with LLMs. I had a subscription to ChatGPT Plus (so o1 and o3 models) and Gemini Advanced.
I know all of us are in the same boat where we have more questions than answers, and while lawyers are great, sometimes we just want a more in general type of question answered.
Just prompt it right and remember to mention where you live so the LLMs can look up employment laws, etc.
I’ve used LLMs to generate a detailed legal case note file for my lawyer, etc and they’ve helped me navigate a ton of different topics.
I find that the paid versions (Gemini Advanced, GPT o1, o3) are much better than the free ones but Google has a free 30 trial that you can sign up for and then just use a new Google account and signup for a new trial, etc.
I dump my entire medical and legal case into it and then prompt it to ask what I need to ask. I would easily say they have way more knowledge legally (as they’ve been trained on a lot of law content) than most law graduates but of course, they can’t replace a seasoned lawyer.
It’s not the most ideal option but most of us can’t pay $500/hour for every question we have.
