Cra dumping my cpp d all in year 2025 when break down clearly shows 2023 2024 and 2025

hello I got my cpp d 2025 waited 3 years and I myself got the break down from service Canada I went ahead and re did my taxes and i put the correct amounts on 2023 2024 and then did 2025 they made a mess did the 2023 2024 but then put it all in 2025 This caused me to lose most of my benifits like the allowance for the survivor and inflate my 2025 not at all fair or humane I waited suffering for 3 years I did not get the minimum of only 1177 as 720 was already my survivor benefit and then 2024 when I turned 60 I got allowance for the survivor now if I had not got disabled i would have been better off as my survivor pension and the allowance would give ne 2000k montly now with what cra will not split the cpp d like in the three years undid my work my disability tax credit and my allowance will be taken out ..i have sent numerous letters all to deaf ears and my cpp d is very low makes no sense

You should be able to go back into those prior years and amend it again to reflect the proper amounts. I’m not sure what you would need to do to update the other benefits you’re entitled to after your tax return is amended.

I’m sorry this happened to you. My response won’t help you, but is a warning for others. The entire lump sum cppd tax year allocation thing is very confusing, and I know I struggled with how to file properly.

That said, for others now facing this… never redo prior year taxes using the information from the CPP-D approval lump sum letter from Service Canada. If you do, it will screw up the automated system that CRA uses to properly allocate a lump sum payment to the proper years. You don’t need to do anything special, the system will automatically allocate lump sums to the proper years to provide you the best tax outcome. I hit send on my Ufile Tax Software and within 1 hour my preliminary 2025 NOA showed that my taxes owing on the cppd lumps were cut by 50% compared to what ufile calculated because the CRA automatically knew how to allocate the lump sum based on the information they already had from Service Canada.

It’ll likely take the CRA at least two years (or longer) to undo that mistake. It took almost 11 months for CRA just to process my very simple capital loss carryback to a prior year, and that is a really really basic and common form people send in all the time.

I think the issue Pammey is having is not with the income tax itself but with eligibility for other income based supports? I had to go back and fix my RRSP deductions that I elected to take.

Yeah, unfortunately I have no useful advice for Pammey…just a reminder to others to not manually change prior returns based on the Service Canada letter to avoid Pammy’s situation.
