Converting old work RPP into LIRA

Good morning all,

I have an old work RPP (Canada Life) through my “current” employer, that is big enough that I rather convert it into an LIRA so I can save on the relatively high MER (fees). Basically the plan is locked into Canada Life as long as I am an employee through my employer.

Would I still be considered employed even if I am on disability and have not worked there since 2019? I am still on my employer’s insurance plan (both disability & medical/dental).

Thx,
JD

Sounds like it.
I think an RPP automatically converts to a LIRA when the employment ends.
You should be able to withdraw any contributions you made, the employer contributions are locked in.
