I have been on maintenance with Manulife for a number of years. Been approved for CPPD and DTC as well. 2 years ago I had to fill out my yearly report and so did my psychiatrist. Last year only I had to fill out the yearly report. Not sure what they will ask for this year. Since I am waiting for a referral to a new psychiatrist if the insurer asks for my doctor to fill out the form I have no option but to use my GP. Anybody else use a GP for the yearly updates?

Yes absolutely. Your GP should have been getting reports from your specialists anyway and frankly most of the forms are regurgitating what the patient reports to the doctor anyway.

Yes, my GP is (and has been) the only medical provider that communities with my insurance company. My GP takes reports from my specialists and decides what is appropriate to update the insurance company with.

Same thing here, he retired and just basically didn’t even send ANY reports to my GP and went completely MIA and I couldn’t ever get those reports, and now years have gone by. My GP does everything, which is only a form every couple of years, the wait list for another psych is like 4 years or something so it’s always been “if i need one, go to the hospital assessment centre”. You will sometimes get a form to fill or sometimes get a quick 5 min phone call from manulife.

Has Manulife been ok with your GP filling out the annual report. Do you list the walk in psychiatrist on your list of medical doctors? I see my GP in 2 weeks so I will ask if she can take the lead on the annual forms.
