I’m eligible for $2000/m for four months as I am a full time post secondary student.

This will put me over the $5700/yr maximum earnings but it’s not employment income.

Has anyone confirmed if CPPD will claw back your CESB (or CERB) income after the $5700/yr? If yes is it 1:1 clawback?

I know CERB is not employment income and therefore not clawed back.
I assume CESB is the same.
I don’t know for sure though.

Are we supposed to let Service Canada know we claimed CESB (or CERB)?

I’m sure they’ll ask people if they need to.
Did you apply through Service Canada or CRA?

CRA, but I applied for CESB which you can only apply for through CRA. It’s almost the same as CERB but just has the one way to apply,

That implies to me that it wouldn’t affect CPPD but it doesn’t hurt to ask Service Canada.

It is hard to get a straight answer on this, but as of now we do not believe CPP will “claw back” the CERB payments or count them as income. However, the issue will be that many people who are getting CPP disability and CERB won’t actually qualify for the CERB and will have to pay it back. If you meet the criteria for CERB then you won’t have to worry about that.

Thanks David! That’s great to know!

In my case I qualify for the CESB which makes it easier.

I did have to confirm if CPP was considered employment or self employment income (I receive over $1000/m in CPPD) but CRA told me it is not considered employment income.
